Date: 2012

Content Type: Text

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and ST Kinetics collaborated to develop a Robotic Articulated Wheel Vehicle (RawV), an unmanned combat vehicle. It was developed by three students from the Diploma of Mechatronics as part of their final year major project cum student internship programme when they were attached to ST Kinetics. This unmanned vehicle is scalable and could be used for dangerous search and rescue operations, bomb disposal, mine detection, military surveillance behind enemy lines, and also function as a logistics transporter into enemy territory to help lighten the payload carried by troops. Mrs Lay-Tan Siok Lie, Deputy Principal and Director, School of Engineering, Temasek Polytechnic and Dr Richard Kwok, Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, ST Kinetics and a member of the TP's School of Engineering Advisory Committee shared their comments on this tie-up.
